No Injuries as Car Crashes Into Salem Hair Salon

The driver states she stepped on the wrong pedal by mistake, accelerating into the business.

(SALEM, Ore.) - At 10:51 Friday morning, units from Marion County Fire District No.1 and the Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a vehicle crash into a building.

Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 1995 Ford Thunderbird that had been driven through the front wall of Creative Hair Design, a hair-styling business, located at 4684 Portland Rd NE, Salem.

The driver of the vehicle, a 78-year old female resident of the Salem area (name is being withheld under HIPAA protection rules), was evaluated by MCFD#1 Paramedics at the scene.

The driver denied any injury and was not transported to the hospital.

According to reports, she stepped on the wrong pedal by mistake, accelerating into the business.

The business was occupied at the time of the crash, but no one inside was injured. Initial estimates approximate damages at $10,000. The Marion County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.

At this time, no citations have been issued.
