Deputies Respond to Bomb Threat in Jefferson‏

(JEFFERSON, Ore.) - Police lights The Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a bomb threat Monday in Jefferson.

Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says the incident took place at the Sterling Bank on Main Street in Jefferson.

The call regarding a bomb threat came in just after 5:00 PM. After the December loss of two police officers in Oregon over a bomb in a bank have placed law enforcement officers on high alert.

Marion County Deputies and Posse Locates Stranded Kayaker

The Marion County Sheriff's Office reminds people to carry cell phones in a waterproof container in case they are separated from their water craft.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Marion County Sheriff's star Rescue teams from the Marion County Sheriff's Office responded around 7:00 PM on New Year's day, to the report of a missing 65-year old man, Chris Watson of Portland, who was kayaking with friends on the North Santiam River when he was caught in the current and separated from his kayak.

Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Sheriff's Office says Mr. Watson made it to the bank of the river and said he would walk out and meet his friends at the road where they left him.

"However, when they arrived he wasn't there and they called the Sheriff's Office. Deputies were unable to locate Watson and had to suspend the search until daylight."

Two Officers Killed by Bomb at Bank in Oregon

A $35,000 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) responsible for their tragic deaths and injuries.

Update on Serious Explosion in Woodburn that Injured Police

Isham says a multi-agency investigation involving federal, state, county and city police agencies has begun to identify the person(s) responsible in this tragic incident.

(WOODBURN, Ore.) - Marion County Sheriff badge Law enforcement agencies have descended on Woodburn, Oregon, where an explosion ripped through a bank today seriously injuring three police officers. A bank employee received injuries that are described as minor.

Marion County Sheriff Russ Isham says this morning at approximately 10:32 AM, a Woodburn-area Wells Fargo Bank received a threatening phone call from an unknown person.

"Bank personnel notified Woodburn Police Department and the bank was evacuated while police investigated with the assistance of the FBI and an Oregon State Police bomb technician," Isham said.

The suspect is described as a Black male, unknown age, six-feet tall, heavyset, wearing a black ski mask, black clothing and gloves.

Two Families Displaced Over Fire

Fire officials remind residents to to check smoke detectors regularly and have older detectors replaced with newer ones that contain long-life batteries.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Damage to a 1920's home at 8275 Hazelgreen Road NE Marion County Fire District No. 1 responded to a silgle story house fire at 11:50 this morning at 8275 Hazelgreen Road NE.

The occupant told firefighters she was home with her 3-year old child when she heard crackling sounds from within the walls. When she went outside to investigate, she noticed smoke coming from the eves of the home and called 911.

The first responding units reported smoke coming from the eves of the residence which was partially involved upon arrival. Upon entry, firefighters encountered rolling flames in the hallway. Eight fire apparatus from Marion County Fire District responded and extinguished the fire within 10 minutes.

Both suspects left the store and got into what was described as an older model dark colored Pontiac Bonneville that according to witnesses, looks like a Honda Accord. The vehicle may also have a rear taillight out.
