Keizer Police Make Arrests in October Pumpkin Throwing Spree

(Keizer) - 17-year old Timothy C. Short and 17-year old Timothy R. Thorton Police in Keizer have been looking hard for the suspects in the pumpkin throwing property damage spree that happened late last October. Keizer Police Sgt Jeff Isham says the agency's Community Response Team wrapped up their investigation Thursday, and arrested two Keizer teens in connection with the case.

Traces of Mercury Found in Keizer School Gymnasiums

Vapors from mercury can be harmful, that's why school officials in Salem have closed the gym at Cummings Elementary School

(Salem) - Cummings Elementary School Photo Courtesy: Salem/Keizer Schools A Keizer elementary school gym has been closed after officials found unsafe traces of mercury emitting from the flooring. Synthetic gym floors installed in schools in the 1970s could be releasing air-borne mercury. Over exposure to this substance has been reported to cause health issues, particularly with pregnant women or women who become pregnant soon after contact.
