Venezuela`s Hugo Chavez A Winner In Congressional Energy Bill, Group Charges

The Partnership for America urges a no vote, saying it will raise consumer prices.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez An energy bill scheduled to be voted on tomorrow by the U.S. Congress will end up helping Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez more than U.S. consumers, a national grassroots group charged Wednesday.

“This bill is not good for the U.S., it's not good for American energy consumers, but it sure is pretty good for Hugo Chavez,” the group charged in a letter to Congress today. “The fact that Chavez will be treated better than U.S.-based companies illustrates the flawed principles on which this legislation is based.”

National Gas Prices Inch Down Below $3 per Gallon

The price of gas should remain stable for the holidays.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gas station attendant in Oregon "Gas prices continue to inch down." AAA Oregon Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds says, "The national average drops five cents this week and is below $3 per gallon for the first time since November 4th.

Oregon's statewide average is down four cents to $3.07 per gallon. Gas prices peaked in mid-November as the price of crude oil approached $100 per barrel, compared with about $89 per barrel today. OPEC's decision last week not to raise production did not cause prices to increase because crude oil and gas inventories are healthy, and demand has been flattening out.

Oregon Gas Prices Decrease Slightly

Some encouraging news at the pumps as the price of gas inches down this week.

(PORTLAND,Ore.) - Gas pump "Gas prices are creeping down this week." AAA Oregon Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds says, "The national average is down about four cents to $3.05, while Oregon's statewide average is also down about four cents to $3.11 per gallon. Portland drivers are paying $3.076 for regular, Salem motorists are paying a little more; $3.084. The average price for a gallon of regular gas in the Eugene/Springfield area is $3.116.

Prices have stabilized amid speculation that OPEC will agree at tomorrow’s meeting to raise production. The price of crude has fallen to around $88 per barrel after being close to $100 per barrel last month."

Oregon, Nationwide Gas Prices Holding Steady

Gas prices this week have leveled out in all four of Oregon's measured metropolitan areas.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - man pumping gas Gas prices in Oregon remain flat, after skyrocketing this fall.

AAA Oregon Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds says, "The national average is $3.09 for the second week in a row, while Oregon's statewide average is again at $3.15 per gallon. Consumers are wondering what gas prices will do in the remaining weeks of 2008. Our best guess is that prices will continue to hold fairly steady."

The price of crude has fallen a couple dollars this week to around $95 per barrel after increased speculation that OPEC will decide at a meeting next week to boost production.

The price of gas appears to be leveling off this week, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Gas Jumps up to $3 Nationwide, Oregon is Higher

You can blame most of the increase on the record high price of crude oil, which is hovering around $96 per barrel today.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gas pump "Three-dollar-a-gallon gas is back across the country." AAA Oregon Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds says, "The national average increased 15 cents in the past week to $3.02, And Oregon's statewide average jumps six cents to $3.13 per gallon this week.

Nationally we're paying 82 cents more than a year ago, and in Oregon 71 cents more.

Oregon`s Average Gasoline Prices are Climbing

The weakening U.S. dollar is a major factor in the price hike experts say.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gas station attendant "Gas prices continue to climb." AAA Oregon Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds says, "The national average increased five-and-a-half- cents in the past week to $2.88, And Oregon's statewide average jumps seven cents to $3.07 per gallon this week.

The increase in gas prices comes after crude oil hit a record $93 per barrel Monday."

Average Gasoline Prices on the Rise

The cost of diesel is soaring too, reasons for the price hikes include unrest in the Middle East

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - German gas station Oregon's gas prices jump from eighth- to fifth-highest in the nation this week, behind Hawaii at $3.189, California at $3.165, Washington at $3.086, and Alaska at $3.056. Idaho's average is $2.901, and Nevada's climbs to $2.984. New Jersey has the least expensive gas in the country at $2.590 per gallon.

The state’s best deal on a gallon of regular was found in Salem where drivers are paying an average of $2.969.

Oregon Gas Prices Drop Except in Salem

In Salem, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded rose 2-cents to $2.85.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - gas pump In the past week, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline dipped by almost two and a half cents to $2.77.

But, Oregon's statewide average price, $2.87, is less than a penny lower than a week ago. Crude oil is still trading for more than $80 per barrel and wholesale gasoline is up to $2.03.

Oregonians now pay an average four and a-half cents per gallon more than last month and only about a quarter more than they paid during the same time period in 2006.

Oregon Gasoline Prices Move Downward

Average prices are leveling. The national average is down by a couple cents, Oregon's savings are much less.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon gas pumps Gasoline prices nationwide have settled down in the past week, dropping the average price for a gallon of regular by two cents to $2.79. Oregon's average price fell by only a half cent to $2.87.

Salem’s average price of $2.835 is the cheapest in Oregon. Portland’s average for a gallon of regular is currently $2.843. Eugene/Springfield drivers are paying $2.860 for regular, while Medford/Ashland’s current cost is $2.947. Vancouver, Washington residents are paying $2.922 for a gallon of self-serve regular gas.
