Body of Buena Vista Man Recovered from Willamette River

(INDEPENDENCE, Ore.) - Body of Marvin Studel recovered from the Willamette River A body was pulled from the Willamette River at Buena Vista Saturday afternoon. Officials say the deceased man was later identified as 63-year old Marvin Leonard Studer, a resident of the Buena Vista area.

Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies got the call around 2:30 p.m. and responded to the reported sighting of a body floating in the Willamette River. Buena Vista is an unincorporated area of Polk County south of Independence, Oregon.

Woman Killed By Train Near Gervais

Union Pacific Investigators were assisting with the investigation, which Thomson says is on-going. No further information is available at this time.

(GERVAIS, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Marion County deputies have identified the victim of a fatal train vs. pedestrian collision early Saturday morning, as 53-year old Anna Emerikov, of Gervais. Her family has been notified. No information has been developed as to why she was on the tracks.

Marion County Sheriff spokesman Don Thomson, says deputies responded to a report of a train versus pedestrian accident on the Union Pacific tracks one mile north of Gervais, at approximately 2:00 a.m. Saturday.

(TURNER, Ore.) - House fire in Turner, Oregon A structure fire in Turner, Oregon, a town located just south of Salem, drew a five alarm response and reportedly spread to wildland before being brought under control today.

The building, a large house located on Meeko Lane SE in Turner, appeared to be a total loss.

Natural Gas Line Fire in Salem, Big Flames, No Injuries

Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Natural gas fire, Salem, Oregon 19 July 2011 Construction equipment was apparently behind the rupturing of a natural gas line in Salem Tuesday night.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. near the Salem Paint Company, at 702 High Street NE.

Report of Smoke in Building Leads to Discovery of Deceased Woman

Fire personnel and Sr. Deputy Jason Hickam located an adult female inside the residence.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Home where fire-related death occurred in Salem, Oregon 6 July 2011 A Salem woman's body was discovered in a home today just after 5:30 p.m. when Marion County Fire District #1 officials and local deputies responded to a report of smoke in a residence in the 3500 block of Silverstone Drive NE.

The home had no visible damage, and there is little information at this point. Marion County Sheriff's Office spokesman Don Thomson, says the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wildfire Still Threatening Los Alamos Nuclear Facility

The lab has announced that it will remain closed Wednesday.

(LOS ALAMOS, N.M. Accuweather) - Los Alamos fire AccuWeather.com reports the weather will remain troublesome for crews battling the wildfire threatening Los Alamos National Laboratory in northern New Mexico over the next few days.

Although an increase in humidity early Tuesday morning has been a short-term benefit, a storm system passing by to the north will kick up daily rounds of gusty winds through Thursday.

(TUCSON) - Wallow Fire in Arizona As of Saturday, the Wallow Fire in eastern Arizona, which began 9 May, has burned about 400,000 acres, making it the second-worst wildfire in the state's history thus far.

The fire is five percent contained as of this writing. The state is extremely dry and is at high risk of other wildfires until summer monsoon rains arrive.
