Sailor Killed When Car Crashes Into Truck Pulling Loaded Horse Trailer

Tragedy included one fatality and injuries to 3 people and 2 horses.

(AURORA, Ore.) - injured horse The driver of the passenger car was seriously injured and life flighted to a Portland hospital. The passenger died on scene. She has been identified as 25-year old Stephanie Stover. She was in the Navy and stationed in Everett, Washington on the USS Gridley.

The truck's occupants were both taken to area hospitals and are expected to live.

Linn County Investigates Logging Death of Salem Man

A log approximately 20 feet long and ten inches in diameter, fell from the top of the trailer striking the man.

(LYONS, Ore.) - log truck fatal The victim, 55-year old Jerry Dean Sramek, of Salem, was a contracted independent truck driver and had just loaded logs from the logging site and was in route to a mill. Sramek was found by Brent Richmond, another truck driver traveling the same route at about 11:26 a.m.

The investigation revealed Sramek stopped to re-secure his load on the trailer approximately four miles away from the landing site where he was loaded.

Salem Woman Killed in Crash on Silverton Road

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Salem Police Traffic Control Unit.

(SALEM, Ore.) - fatal crash When they arrived on the scene, officers found an adult female deceased and a 9-year old girl injured in one vehicle and the driver of the other vehicle with minor injuries.

The investigation has shown that 19-year old Estaban Alvarez-Ayala was traveling eastbound on Silverton Rd in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when, for some reason, he crossed into the westbound lane of traffic.

Double Fatal Crash on Hwy 47 Near Vernonia

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Wednesday afternoon's tragic crash.

(VERNONIA, Ore.) - fatal crash Two people died Wednesday afternoon in a near head-on crash. According to OSP, two Ford F-150 pickups were fully engulfed in fire when troopers arrived at the scene Wednesday afternoon.

Both drivers were determined to have sustained fatal injuries from the crash. There were no passengers in either pickup.

A westbound van went off the road and caught fire.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - fatal crash Just before 3 a.m., early Tuesday July 12th, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Highway 18, near milepost 3.5 (north of Lincoln City).

Preliminary investigation reveals a white in color 15-passenger GMC van, was traveling westbound when it departed the highway and for unknown reasons, striking several large trees and catching fire.

Minnesota Woman Live-Streamed Moments After Police Killed Her Boyfriend

The aftermath of the officer-involved shooting was live-streamed on facebook, then deleted by administrators.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Philando Castile Her boyfriend was in the passenger seat. According to Reynolds, Castile told the officer that he was carrying a gun, which he had a permit to carry. He told the officer that he was going to reach into his back pocket for his wallet and identification.

She said the officer told Castile “not to move” then, so he stopped and, “as he was putting his hands back up, the officer shot him in the arm four or five times,” Reynolds said.

July 4th Traffic Crash Near Siletz Claims One Life

Medical conditions are believed to be contributing factors.

Deputies determined that Mr. Kahn was the only occupant of the vehicle and he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident.
