Motorcycles, Music and Charity - Concert to Benefit Bradley-Angle House

Bradley-Angle House was the first domestic violence shelter on the West coast.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Roadrunners motorcycle club logo A charity concert is being held at the Milwaukie, Elks Lodge on May, 31st 2008 to benefit Bradley-Angle House. Six local indie bands have volunteered their time for the cause of raising money for this worthy cause.

Awesome 3000 Early Bird Registration Ends Today

The 26th running of the Awesome 3000 is set for Saturday, May 3, at McCulloch Stadium in Bush Park.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Awesome 3000 Today is the early bird registration deadline for the 2008 Awesome 3000.

Runners can drop off forms through Saturday at Gallagher’s Fitness Resources or the Salem Family YMCA. Registrations postmarked April 19 also will be accepted. The registration fee is $17 per student, or $12 for the pre-school run.

Oregon Gets Ready for Chelsea Clinton

Hillary spent last weekend in Oregon holding events in Portland and Eugene.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Chelsea Clinton Chelsea Clinton is coming to Oregon this weekend.

The former first daughter will visit the Beaver State on Saturday on behalf of her mother, Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Chelsea will speak from 3:30 to 5:00 PM at Oregon State University in Corvallis. She will also address Oregon Democrats at their convention at 1:15 PM in Eugene. She will also make a visit to Portland State University.

Willamette University Hosts Urban Earth, Art and Music Festival

Each year Wulapalooza includes a fundraiser for a local charitable foundation.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Willamette University event The 10th annual Wulapalooza, Willamette University’s free music, art and Earth festival, will be held Saturday, April 26th on Brown Field.

The festival begins at 11:00 AM with the main music stage opening at 5:00 PM. This year’s featured performers are Mobius Band from New York, and Portland bands The Blow, Blitzen Trapper and Panther.

Activist, Author to Speak on Situation in Darfur

For more than 20 years, Prendergast has worked to combat genocide and human rights abuses, with a focus on Africa.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - John Prendergast Noted human rights activist and author John Prendergast will give a free public lecture at Oregon State University on Friday, that will examine human rights abuse in Darfur.

His free public talk, “Darfur and Beyond: What We Can Do to Confront the Human Rights Crisis in Africa,” begins at 7:00 p.m. in Austin Auditorium of the LaSells Stewart Center on the OSU campus. The center is located at 26th Street and Western Boulevard in Corvallis.

Rwandan Woman Shares Story of Hope and Survival

Ilibagiza lost most of her family and friends, but arose out of the conflict to become one of the country’s most outspoken survivors.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Immaculée Ilibagiza Immaculée Ilibagiza survived Rwanda’s 100-day genocide to tell her story of faith and forgiveness that transcends the most brutal fear, suffering and loss.

The Rwandan survivor will speak at 7:00 PM March 28th at Willamette University’s Smith Auditorium in Salem. People who have suffered the effects of violence and abuse in their own lives and their friends, families, counselors and supporters are encouraged to attend the event.
