American Presidents: Romancing A Stone

An American past in an Israeli future for an ever present and brutal occupation

(LONDON) - Obama and the Israeli henchman Happy Christmas Mr President or may I call you Barack this Yule Tide?

As you know “Christmas is the day that holds all time together” (Alexander Smith) certainly as you rustle through your Christmas stocking and wrestle with your conscience perhaps to find as you dig deep in both and past ‘hegemonic imperatives’ an olive twig or a so-called ‘peace process’? Perhaps not.

I was in Egypt with our Gaza Projects Director Dr. Mona El-Farra. We were scrambling to purchase emergency supplies and get them into Gaza. Eventually, we were able to deliver more than six tons of food, medicine, and medical equipment—including an ambulance and wheelchairs—thanks to the generosity of people like you.

Post-Mubarak Egypt Still a Work in Progress

There are rumors that a second, violent revolution will happen on January 25.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Head of Egypt's ruling military council Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi Two friends of mine recently returned from Cairo and report that except for Tahrir Square and the immediate surroundings, there is very little evidence of protests against military rule.

True this is scant anecdotal evidence, but it appears from the news accounts that the protestors may be losing the propaganda campaign that portray them as vandals and arsonists.

(ALEXANDRIA, Egypt) - A member of the Egyptian government forces fires a round at unarmed protestors in Cairo's Tahrir Square. Thomas Merton said, “The truth that many people never understand, until it is too late, is that the more you try to avoid suffering the more you suffer because smaller and more insignificant things begin to torture you in proportion to your fear of being hurt”.

Perhaps this time period best defines that statement, and it is likely Egypt's weathered attempt to shed tyranny and secure a future with liberty, is going to be the new definition.

(ALEXANDRIA, Egypt) - King Tutankhamun Ancient Egypt knew no Pharaohs, Prologue: The title might sound a bit strange and perplexing, but throughout the following lines I’m going to elaborate, as I unfold this bizarre issue, on the historical reasons why the rulers of ancient Egypt were called kings and not Pharaohs.
