Dec-19-2011 19:48TweetFollow @OregonNews Egypt's Revolutionary Flame Reignites in Tahrir SquareSalem-News.comEgypt's version of the Occupy movement retakes Tahrir Square.
(SALEM) - In typical fashion, the Washington Post is among U.S. news groups backing the 'government' of Egypt as it crushes, rapes and brutalizes citizens in Tahrir Square who stand up and speak out against the military junta that seized power in the wake of the ousting of Hosni Mubarak. These far-right media groups are in a trap now that the Occupy Wall Street movement is up and running in the U.S. It is easy for U.S. media to cheer foreign revolution, but only when its perceived enemies like Iran are the recipients. Even Bahrain's protest drew little coverage in the U.S. After all, that government is a 'friend' of the Obama Administration and with its military base usage important to western interests, it was friendly to the preceding administrations. However support of any regime that openly shoots demonstrators with live rounds does little beyond spiking the country's ranking as a human rights violator, with groups like Amnesty International that monitor Genocide and crimes against humanity. As The Nation- Pakistan wrote, "The protesters occupying the square have been demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Kamal Ganzouri. Egypt has larger problems than an elderly politician who has been in office barely three weeks, although Mr Ganzouri has already thoroughly discredited himself by denying the images that are being recorded on the streets." Even the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay has openly condemned Egypt's junta for staging “ruthless violence” and “inhuman acts” in handling recent protests in the capital.
