Linn County Sheriff`s Office Investigates Bomb Threat at Harrisburg Middle School

Better safe than sorry, the schools were evacuated.

(HARRISBURG, Ore.) - Harrisburg middle school Linn County Undersheriff Jim Yon reports his deputies are investigating a bomb threat at a Middle School.

This morning at 9:33 a.m., a note was found at Harrisburg Middle School threatening to blow it up at 11:00 a.m. Deputies responded and students and staff from the Middle School and the nearby Elementary School were evacuated to safety. The schools notified parents about the threat.

Evidence-based mentoring model to be featured in public television documentary “Visionaries”

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - friends of the children Friends of the Children announced today it will award $2.4 million to open chapters in four new cities, and expand in one existing site.

Friends of the Children’s evidence-based model works: 93 percent of youth avoid involvement in the juvenile justice system, 83 percent graduate from high school, and 98 percent avoid early parenting.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore.) - young protester A crowd of over one hundred people gathered on the streets next to McMinnville High School today, to give Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos a hearty Oregon reception. There were protesters and supporters, though her supporters were outnumbered by the score.

Well known as a billionaire philanthropist, DeVos’ “out of touch” policies directly threaten federal funding for public schools, according to teachers we spoke with.

Hundreds expected to protest her appearance.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Betsy Devos Today, it will be McMinnville's turn to show Betsy DeVos what we think of her proposals regarding our Public Education System.

She will be visiting MHS at around 1pm on Wednesday. We will gather on the sidewalks by the school - meet on the West Side of Evans St, along the chainlink fence near the new soccer field.

At Sunday's 49ers-Colts game, Vice President Mike Pence, wearing a Peyton Manning No. 18 jersey, in a staged exit of the Lucas Oil Stadium after the national anthem, following instructions from President Trump after a number of 49ers players took a knee during the anthem.

Teen Arrested for Instagram Threat Against Newport High School

The 16-year old student was arrested for Disorderly Conduct I.

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - instagram threat A threat was made via social media aimed at Newport High School on Sept 26, 2017. Students reported to school staff that they saw a threat on Instagram that targeted Newport High School.

The threat on Instagram read, "The end of NHS is near. RIP NHS 10/24/17." The threatening post was active for a short time, and then removed from Instagram by the author.

Passing the Dream Act -- a long shot at best

Unless House Speaker Paul Ryan and Trump get behind the Dream Act, it probably won't pass now.

(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) - DACA Trump has decided to phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) over six months unless Congress steps in with its own plan for these childhood arrivals.

If Trump has a "great love for DACA recipients," he would have called on Congress to pass the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act or Dream Act, and if it did, promise to sign it into law.
