One of the recent ones was berating me for stating that a person on long-term oxycontin was an “addict”. She preferred the term “dependent”. I guess I must be an oldtime-pharcomologist. I’ve been at this for 60 years now. I have witnessed the switch from Laudanum to morphine, wrote about the sulfa drugs in 1940 before they were released, I remember penicillin production and first use.

Three Arrested on Meth Related Charges in Albany

Lebanon and Albany Police Departments assisted in serving the warrant.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Crystal Dawn Robinette, top left, Jeremy Hanson, bottom left and David Pahlman, bottom right, were arrested in Albany. Linn County Sheriff detectives say they executed a search warrant at 1024 9th Ave SE Albany on March 19th at about 8:30 PM.

Three suspects were arrested and Methamphetamine, packaging materials, drug paraphernalia, scales and surveillance cameras inside the residence were seized, according to Sheriff Tim Mueller.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Drug Czar John Walters Drug Czar John Walters' scheduled appearance at a press conference this morning to announce a new SAMHSA report on the dangers of teen inhalant abuse flies in the face of his office's misplaced priorities, officials of the Marijuana Policy Project in Washington, D.C. said today.

MPP noted that Walters' just-released National Drug Control Strategy virtually ignores deadly inhalants while continuing Walters' obsessive focus on marijuana, the least dangerous of illicit drugs.

Oregon Police Say Traffic Stop Led to Seizure of 20 Kilos of Cocaine

They say it led to one arrest on Interstate 5 south of Woodburn.

(WOODBURN, Ore.) - Cocaine photograph - Oregon State Police Oregon State Police troopers say they arrested a Clackamas man Tuesday after they discovered 20 kilos of cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 south of Woodburn.

The OSP's Lieutenant Gregg Hastings says the cocaine was hidden in a sport utility vehicle the man was driving northbound on the freeway.

Several Arrested on Meth and Heroin Charges in Salem

Salem Drug Investigation leads to arrests & seizure of drugs valued at over $48,000

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Detectives from the Salem Police Street Crimes Unit and Drug Activity Response Team were conducting a drug investigation Monday which resulted in a number of arrests and charges.

Lt. Jim Anglemier with Salem Police says it began when detectives observed a drug deal in a North Salem parking lot and contacted two of the subjects involved, which ultimately led to several arrests.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Steroid Possession

The man now faces a charge of Possession of Steroids, Schedule III.

(BEAVERTON, Ore.) - 24-year old Michael Douglas Ceja of Beaverton was charged with Possession of Steroids, Schedule III Beaverton Police officers say they stopped a vehicle near SW Hall Boulevard and SW Greenway for expired license plate tags and no proof of insurance last night just before 7:00 PM. Sgt. Paul Wandell with Beaverton Police says the officers contacted the driver, who was identified as 24-year old Michael Douglas Ceja of Beaverton.

During a search of the vehicle, officers say they located a small bottle of liquid that was shown to be steroids. Officers said they also located individually packaged syringes and empty bottles.

UN Survey Reveals that Afghan Opium Production Remains `Shockingly High`

The UN drugs chief urged Afghanistan and its allies to take decisive action. The problems associated with opium are not historic but fairly recent and the money is used in part to fund terrorist organizations.

(TOKYO) - Opium has not always been a mainstay crop in Afghanistan A United Nations study of opium production in Afghanistan released today has concluded that this year’s cultivation levels remain shockingly high, and will be broadly similar to or slightly lower than last year’s record harvest of 192,000 hectares.

Presenting the assessment, the Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Antonio Maria Costa, said that while the level of opium cultivated may have peaked, the money generated by Afghan drugs remained a destabilizing force. He warned Europe, Russia and countries along Afghan heroin routes to "brace themselves again for major health and security consequences."

Police Name Man in Freeway Cocaine Arrest

The approximately 66 pounds of cocaine has an estimated value of $600,000.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 26-year old David Chico Monjaraz III was arrested on several charges relating to a freeway traffic stop Saturday. A Washington State man was arrested Saturday afternoon when an Oregon State Police trooper reportedly discovered 31 kilos of cocaine concealed in a sport utility vehicle during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 in the Salem area.

State police have released the man's name and age, but no further information is being released due to the ongoing investigation, OSP Spokesman Greg Hastings said.

Salem Traffic Stop Nets 31 Kilos of Cocaine

The approximately 66 pounds of cocaine has an estimated value of $600,000.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - cocaine bust An OSP trooper on patrol stopped a 2005 Nissan Armada sport utility vehicle with out-of-state license plates Saturday afternoon, police said. The vehicle was northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 253 when the trooper pulled it over for speed and lane change violations.

OSP Spokesman Greg Hastings said, "During contact with the lone occupant, a 26-year old male, the trooper subsequently found 31 kilos of cocaine in a false compartment located in the rear cargo area. The approximately 66 pounds of cocaine has an estimated value of $600,000."
