Natural Gas Explosion Injures 4 Canby Firefighters

A firefighter noticed a quick spike in the gas levels on the portable gas monitor, then seconds later Firefighter John Stanislaw heard the furnace come on. "Then the room exploded."

(CANBY, Ore.) - Scene of house explosion in Canby, Oregon A natural gas explosion at a Canby home could have been tragic Thursday as one firefighter was blown 80 feet into the street during a major explosion. But Canby Fire reports that at this time, all four of the individuals are released from medical care.

Police Recover Teen`s Body from Molalla River

Alcohol and/drugs do not appear to be involved in this incident.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Authorities had the sad task of recovering the body of an 18-year old Canby man from the Molalla River River Thursday afternoon.

Jesse Bough drowned after jumping into the fast moving water about 5 1/2 miles above the Glen Avon Bridge, in an area known as "Party Rock."

Detective Jeffrey Green with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says his agency is investigating the apparent drowning.

Canby, Oregon Man Found Guilty on 46 Counts of Sex Crimes

The crimes occurred in Lincoln County and Canby.

(NEWPORT, Ore. ) - 63-year-old Rex Duane Stephenson A Canby man has been found guilty of 46 counts of sex crimes by a Lincoln County Jury last Friday.

63-year-old Rex Duane Stephenson was originally arrested July 6th, 2006 for multiple counts of various sex crimes.

The two female juvenile victims were known to Stephenson, and were 11 years old when the abuse started.

Fire Erupts Inside Canby Apartment

The Oregon Trail Chapter of the Red Cross was called to the scene to help the displaced tenants with their food, clothing, and shelter needs.

(CANBY) - fire in canby At approximately 8:50 AM Wednesday morning a fire erupted at 290 S Locust Street in Canby, the Forest Manor Apartments, an 8-plex townhouse.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke pouring from an upstairs window with both tenants standing outside the unit clearly in distress.

Occupant Kim Kelly, and her friend Doug were at home when the fire started.

Two Young Girls Seriously Injured in Saturday Morning Crash

Oregon State Police troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation.

(CANBY) - crash investigation Two children were injured Saturday morning after the van they were riding in lost control on an icy stretch of Highway 170 about two miles south of Canby and collided with a pickup.

Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings says at approximately 8:55 AM, a 2000 Dodge Caravan driven by 39-year-old Gina Lannin, from Canby, was eastbound on Highway 170 near milepost 12.

While negotiating a slight left-hand curve, Lannin lost control on an icy section of two lane highway and slid broadside into the westbound lane.

The passenger side of the van was struck by the front of a westbound 2004 Ford F350 pickup towing a horse trailer.

Police Say 13-Year-Old Girl Lied About Attempted Abduction

Police said no charges will be filed.

(CANBY) - Canby police say the 13-year-old victim of the attempted abduction in Canby admitted to investigators that she was not truthful and the incident did not happen.

The victim reportedly has many personal issues happening at this time and did not state why she was not truthful.

The girl had told police that an unknown Hispanic male grabbed and attempted to forcefully drag her behind a vacant house located at N Holly Street and NW 6th in Canby.

Aurora Man Safe After Train Crashes Into His Pickup

The train's engine was approximately 30 cars past the crash site before it could fully stop the train, which was estimated to be traveling at 30-35 MPH.

(CANBY) - truck wrecked by train At about 5:40 PM, Canby Firefighters responded to a report of a car hit by a train at 99E and S. Barlow Road.

When Canby Fire Units arrived they transferred the shaken driver into their medic unit to further evaluate the 72-year old gentlemen from Aurora. He told the firefighters that he misjudged the road. He apparently started to cross the railroad tracks and his vehicle became stuck, or high centered on the tracks.

Police Seeking Suspect in Canby Chopped Vehicle Case

Fisher in known to frequent the Portland, Oregon City and Canby areas.

(CANBY) - Canby Police are looking for 22-year-old Robert Lawrence Fisher in connection to a stolen chopped vehicle that was recovered in Canby on November 27th.

Fisher was selling parts from the vehicle on a internet site called VWVORTEX.COM

Canby Police recovered multiple parts from the chopped vehicle at Fisher's Portland residence at 6238 NE 17th

Life Flight Called To Canby Crash for Four Victims

There were five people in the car, but the fifth was able to walk away from the scene, getting his own ride to the hospital.

(CANBY) - car crash Four people were taken to area trauma centers by Lifeflight after the car they were in crashed Monday night on Hwy 170 at South Good Lane.

Canby Fire units were dispatched to the single car Motor Vehicle Crash at about 9:00 PM. When responders arrived they identified four victims in a compact car; all sustaining serious injuries.

Life Flight was activated along with additional ambulances to transport all the injured victims.

One rear-seat passenger required heavy extrication to remove him from the twisted wreckage. The patients names and ages were not available at the time of this report.

Canby Police Car In 3-Vehicle Crash

The Canby Police car was driven by a Canby Police Sergeant and a Canby Police Lieutenant was a passenger.

(CANBY) - Canby Oregon police car accident According to police, it appears that about 4:45 PM, a Canby police car turned from South End Road onto Southbound SR 99E, and collided with a 1995 Toyota Camry. The Camry was driven by an adult female from Tualatin, who was taken to Oregon Health Sciences University with serious, but not life threatening, injuries.

The first impact caused a secondary crash with a third vehicle, a Ford F-150 pick up truck driven by an adult male. He was hospitalized with minor injuries.
