(SACRAMENTO, CA) - A 31-year old police officer was shot to death today in Galt, California, while responding to a burglary today around 11:30 a.m.

Galt police Lt. Jim Uptegrove says Officer Kevin Tonn was fatally shot during what he described as a physical altercation with the suspect, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
