BURMA: Rohingya Face Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis

(RANGOON) - Displaced people in one section of Ah Nauk Ywe makeshift camp in Rakhine state Human Rights Watch (HRW) has accused the Myanmar government of restricting humanitarian aid and discriminating against Muslim Rohingyas in a new report.

HRW's Phil Robertson said, “Burmese [Myanmar] government restrictions on aid to Rohingya Muslims are creating a humanitarian crisis that will become a disaster when the rainy season arrives.”

Buddhist Terrorists Again

BURMA: Refugee Camp Death Toll Rises to 42

Authorities believe the fire was sparked by an unattended cooking flame.

(MAE SURRIN REFUGEE CAMP, Thailand) - Deadly fire at the Mae Surin camp in Mae Hong Son province, Thailand. The toll from a blaze that swept through a camp in northern Thailand has risen to 42, a Thai official told AFP on Saturday, after hundreds of temporary homes for refugees from Myanmar were reduced to ashes.

Dozens of people were injured in the fire, which broke out on Friday at the Mae Surin camp in Mae Hong Son province, with women, children and the elderly believed to make up the majority of the victims, most of whom are ethnic Karenni.

BURMA: Army Restores Calm in Meikhtila After Deadly Sectarian Clashes

Security forces escorted about 6,000 Muslims to a stadium in the town where they were being held.

(MEIKHTILA The Irrawaddy) - Army trucks line up along a road in downtown Meikhtila Smoldering debris and charred buildings littered the Muslim quarter of Meikhtila in central Burma on Saturday as the army was brought in to end days of violence.

Relative calm returned to the town on Saturday after the army was brought in to patrol the streets following nearly three days of clashes between Buddhists and Muslims, which left an unconfirmed number of people dead.

Update from the New `Killing field` in Burma: 12 Masjids Burned & 4 Islamic Teachers Killed

State of emergency imposed in Meiktila.

(NEW YORK) - Scenes of devastation in Meiktila At least 12 mosques have been burned, and extremist Buddhist mobs are still hunting Muslims in the central Burmese town of Meiktila.

One report says that 28 students and 4 Islamic teachers were killed in one of the Islamic schools in the town, in the presence of police forces. The list of the dead included Hafiz Mohammad Ahtisham, Mawlana Mohammad Shafi, Mawlana Zakariya and Mufti Wajib.

Muslim families are leaving and fleeing to avoid the life hazards from their respective own houses. The Buddhists burned down Mingalar Zayyu Hafiz School at midnight of 21 March 2013.

The clashes broke out Wednesday following an argument between a customer and the Muslim owner of a gold shop in the main bazaar in the Mandalay city of Meikhtila.
