Forestry Groups Express Continued Concern Over Spotted Owl Plan

The Service should utilize the latest scientific modeling as a basis for policy changes.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Logging Today, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) announced the opening of a 30-day public comment period limited to a technical appendix to the Northern Spotted Owl Draft Revised Recovery Plan released last fall.

Forest landowners and mill owners expressed disappointment at the Service’s failure to release other aspects of the current draft plan and skepticism about the time allowed.

Palestinian man stabbed by settler in Tuwani days after settler riot disrupts replanting of damaged olive trees.

(AT TUWANI, West Bank) - This settler riot preceded a settler's homicidal stabbing of a Palestinian man. On the Monday morning shortly after 7:00 a.m. a Palestinian father of two from Tuba village was attacked and stabbed near the the illegal outpost of Havat Ma'on in the South Hebron Hills.

Mahmoud Ibrahim Ali Awad, 32, was traveling by donkey from his home in Tuba to a medical appointment in the city of Yatta when a masked settler ran out of the illegal outpost of Havat Ma'on and attacked him with a knife.
