(EUGENE, Ore. ) - University of Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon has suffered damage to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee that will require surgery and force him to miss the remainder of the 2007 season, according to the Ducks’ football coach Mike Bellotti.
Oregon team doctors, trainers and Bellotti became aware following the Nov. 3 Oregon football game against Arizona State that Dixon’s left knee had sustained damage that would eventually require sugery to enable a complete recovery. Read Full Article

(ALBANY, N.Y.) - New York tax officials say Derek Jeter should have been taxed as a state resident from 2001-03, which potentially could cost the Yankees captain millions of dollars.
Jeter says he is a Florida resident, but the State Division of Taxation of Finance argues that he had a New York residence during that period. Florida does not have a state income tax, while New York state and city do have income taxes. Read Full Article

(MONMOUTH, Ore. ) - Crescent Valley High School senior Thomas McCarthy has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Western Oregon University in 2009.
If the name sounds familiar to Western Oregon fans, it's for good reason. Thomas' brother Greg McCarthy was a four-year starter at WOU leaving the program in 2005 as the Wolves' all-time RBI and doubles leader.
