(PULLMAN, Wash.) - Following a meeting with Washington State University President Elson S. Floyd, Director of Athletics Jim Sterk and Head Football Coach Bill Doba, it was mutually agreed that the time was right to transition to the next phase for Cougar football.
In his first season at the helm, the Cougars finished second in the Pac-10 Conference and then recorded the biggest bowl victory in the history of the program. WSU's win against Texas in the Holiday Bowl was its first over a top five program since 1988. Read Full Article

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Hedo Turkoglu scored 21 points, Rashard Lewis had 20 and the Magic beat the Portland Trail Blazers 85-74 on Monday night to become the first NBA team to win 13 games this season.
LaMarcus Aldridge had 16 points and Martell Webster added 13 for the Blazers, who have lost five of their last six to the Magic.

(MIAMI) - Sean Taylor, a free safety for the Washington Redskins, died early on Tuesday, a day after being shot by an intruder in his Miami-area home.
Taylor, 24, was shot in the upper leg, but bullet struck the femoral artery, and he has lost a lot of blood. "This the worst imaginable tragedy,'' Redskins owner Daniel Snyder said in a statement on the team's Web site.

(MIAMI) - Media reports out of Miami say Washington Redskins free safety Sean Taylor is in extremely critical condition at this hour, after someone shot him at his home early Monday morning.
WSVN-TV says Taylor, 24, was shot in the leg, but bullet struck the femoral artery, and he has lost a lot of blood. Sources close to Taylor said he was in surgery after being airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
