NAMPA, Idaho - Leada Berkey hit for a season-high 36 points and Western Oregon rallied from a 28-point second half deficit but it wasn't quite enough as the Wolves fell to Cal State Stanislaus 85-79 at the NNU Thanksgiving Classic.

The Wolves fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss, while the Warriors improved to 2-2.

Cal State Stanislaus, who never trailed in the game, jumped out to a 17-6 lead just six minutes into the contest. They would go on to post a 49-31 halftime margin, behind 15 first half points by Shirsty Kumar.

The Warriors would push their lead to 28 points just four minutes into the second half on a lay-up by Aleta Stamps.

But the Wolves would come roaring back, fighting to within a three-point deficit on a Berkey basket with 26 seconds left in the contest. But three of four free throws by Amanda Everett in the next 10 seconds slowed the Wolves and sealed the victory for CSUS.

Western Oregon would outscore Cal State Stanislaus 48-36 after intermission. But the Wolves hit only 2 of 12 shots from three-point range and were outrebounded 42-35.

The Warriors nailed 9 of 14 trey attempts, with Kumar hitting four of six. Kumar would finish with 25 points and four assists.

Berkey came just two points short from equaling her career best with the 36 points. She converted 13 of 21 shots from the field and was 10 of 12 from the free throw line. She also had seven rebounds.

Katie Torland had 17 points and eight rebounds, while point guard Alison Crumb added 11 points and four assists.

The Wolves will now get the coming week off from game action. They will next take on Corban College on Dec. 7 at home.
