(PALM HARBOR, Fla. ) - Candace Parker, Sylvia Fowles and Candice Wiggins were selected today as the top three overall picks in the 2008 WNBA Draft presented by adidas, held today at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla.
The Los Angeles Sparks picked Parker with the top overall selection while the Chicago Sky chose Fowles with the second pick and the Minnesota Lynx took Candice Wiggins with the third pick.

PETERSBURG, Fla.) - Left-hander Jarrod Washburn continued his dominance of the Rays on Wednesday night, holding them to one run over seven innings, leading the Mariners to a 7-1 victory over Tampa Bay in front of 12,106 at Tropicana Field.
Washburn improved his career record against the Rays to 11-3 overall and has won seven of his eight decisions at Tropicana Field. Catcher Jamie Burke unveiled his seldom-used home run trot when he smacked a three-run home run in the eighth inning off Rays left-handed reliever J.P. Howell, the second homer of his career. His first came in the final game last season.

Putnam reached base in each of his four plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with his first home run of the season, a double, a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Assembled on a platform at midfield, players, coaches and staff were introduced to the crowd as the Jayhawk Radio Network and more than seven television stations carried the event live.

Willamette defeated Lewis & Clark 8-0 in six innings on the run rule and 11-3 in five innings on the run rule. The Bearcats downed George Fox 3-0 and 11-1 (5 innings, run rule).
