ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Left-hander Jarrod Washburn continued his dominance of the Rays on Wednesday night, holding them to one run over seven innings, leading the Mariners to a 7-1 victory over Tampa Bay in front of 12,106 at Tropicana Field.

Washburn improved his career record against the Rays to 11-3 overall and has won seven of his eight decisions at Tropicana Field. He went into the game with the lowest ERA (1.99) in Tropicana Field history for pitchers with at least seven starts.

Catcher Jamie Burke unveiled his seldom-used home run trot when he smacked a three-run home run in the eighth inning off Rays left-handed reliever J.P. Howell, the second homer of his career. His first came in the final game last season.

Mariners third baseman Adrian Beltre hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot to left-center in the fifth inning, and Ichiro Suzuki doubled home the first of two Seattle runs in the third inning off Rays right-hander Andy Sonnanstine.

Designated hitter Jose Vidro and second baseman Jose Lopez each drove in a run as the Mariners won their second straight after losing four in a row.
