Dolphins Ink OT Jake Long to 5-Year Deal

The 6-foot-7, 315-pound Long was a two-time All-American and a three-time Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year.

(MIAMI) - jake longThe Dolphins signed former Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long on Tuesday, making him the top overall pick in Saturday's NFL Draft.

The draft will be the first in Miami for the regime led by executive VP of football operations Bill Parcells after the Dolphins went 1-15 last year.

Denver’s Marcus Camby, who won the award last season, finished second and Houston’s Shane Battier finished third with 175 points.

(NEW YORK) - Kevin GarnettThe NBA announced today that Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics is the recipient of the 2007-08 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award presented by Kia Motors.

The 6-11 forward led the Celtics in rebounds with a 9.2 average (7.3 defensive rpg), to go along with 18.8 points, 1.2 blocks and 1.4 steals.

Miami - OT Jake Long Agree on 5-Year Deal

A press conference has been scheduled for 1:45 p.m. ET.

(MIAMI) - Jake LongThe Miami Dolphins have reached an agreement with former Michigan OT Jake Long on a five-year, $57.5 million contract, including $30 million guaranteed.

Long is a two-time All-American offensive tackle. He has appeared in 28 games and made 25 starts at offensive tackle, 14 of which were at right tackle and 11 at left tackle. In 2003 he was redshirted.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - Oregon wrestlersA pair of University of Oregon wrestlers finished top four in Greco-Roman wrestling action in the recent University and Fila Cadet Nationals, held at the University of Akron’s Athletic Field House.

Redshirt sophomore Kyle Bounds finished second place in the 74-kilogram (163 pounds) weight class, while redshirt freshman Charlie Alexander added fourth place at 120 kilograms (264.5 pounds).

Spurs Manu Ginobili Wins NBA Sixth Man Award

(NEW YORK) - Manu GinobiliManu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs is the winner of the NBA Sixth Man Award presented by Kia Motors as the league’s best player in a reserve role for the 2007-08 season, the NBA announced today.

A sixth man in 51-of-74 games played this season, Ginobili led the Spurs in scoring with a career-high average of 19.5 points to go along with 4.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.47 steals.
