(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - The Ian Lefebvre era began in dramatic fashion, as the Linfield Wildcats upset 10th-ranked UC-Santa Cruz 2-0 on the game-clinching goal by Jacob Burger in the 61st minute at the Linfield soccer field Friday night.
Michael Camacho assisted Burger on the game’s deciding goal.
Camacho fed Burger in the box, and with one quick move to his right, Burger beat Banana Slugs’ goalkeeper Jared Wheeler with a shot to the low right corner of the net. Read Full Article

(FONTANA, Calif.) - Kurt Busch survived the heat of the California Speedway track and an uncertain setup on his Dodge to clinch the Bud Pole for Sunday's NASCAR NEXTEL CUP Sharp Aquos 500 during Laughlin Qualifying Day at California Speedway.
Busch's first Bud Pole of 2007, earned with a lap of 39.474 seconds (182.399 mph), was also his third Pole in 11 races at California Speedway.
He has six top-10 starts on the two-mile, D-shaped oval and he has finished fourth or better in all six, including a victory in 2003. Read Full Article

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State University junior preseason All-American offensive guard Jeremy Perry is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks after suffering a lower left leg injury in the Beavers’ win over the Utah Utes Thursday night at Reser Stadium.
The 6-2 Perry was injured early in the fourth quarter on a running play.
Perry returned to the starting lineup after missing the 2006 Sun Bowl following a knee injury he sustained in the season finale at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. Read Full Article

(BELLINGHAM, Wash.) - Western Oregon swept Cal State Dominguez Hills in three games to claim a split of Friday matches at the Western Washington Invitational at Sam Carver Gymnasium, 30-14, 30-16, 30-25.
Earlier in the day, the Wolves took a two-games-to-one lead only to watch Cal Poly Pomona roar back to claim a 3-2 victory in the opening match of the tournament.
The Wolves are now 3-3 on the season. Cal State Dominguez Hills fell to 0-5, while Cal Poly Pomona is now 4-1 after a loss later in the day to host Western Washington. Read Full Article

After a scoreless first 36-plus minutes, Corban senior Joshua Crain teamed with fellow senior Caleb Louvier on a pair of goals in just over 90 seconds.

(WACO, Texas ) - The Oregon volleyball team opened the Baylor Invitational on Friday afternoon with a three-game sweep (33-31, 30-17, 30-25 ) of Mississippi State at the Ferrell Center.
The Ducks are on a four-match winning streak and are undefeated in 2007, having not lost a game all season.
For the fourth consecutive match junior Gorana Maricic reached double figures in kills, with 12.

Junior midfielder Jessica Goodell, a transfer from Nebraska playing in her first game for the Ducks (1-0-0), crossed the ball to Smith who found the back corner of the net for the only score of the game.
