(LINCOLN, Neb.) - Nebraska Athletic Director Steve Pederson announced Tuesday that NU Head Football Coach Bill Callahan has signed a new five-year contract that runs through Jan. 31, 2012.
"I have said on numerous occasions that we want Coach Callahan to be the coach at Nebraska for a long time," Pederson said.
Callahan’s original six-year contract, signed in 2004, included an annual compensation of $1.5 million.

(ASSEN, Netherlands) - From the start of the Bavaria Beer Champ Car Grand Prix of Holland Justin Wilson made it known he would be the man to beat, taking the lead in the opening corner and holding off a variety of challengers to earn his first win of the season and the fourth of his career.
Wilson led 39 of the 69 circuits, on his way to the winner's circle, losing the lead to Bruno Junqueira who was on a different pit strategy.

Going head-to-head with Woods for the first time in 18 months, Mickelson buried the world's No. 1 player on the front nine and held him off down the stretch Monday to close with a 5-under 66 and win the Deutsche Bank Championship by two shots.
It was the first victory for Mickelson since THE PLAYERS Championship in May, when he looked ready to make another run at Woods.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - The first road trip of the season has Oregon State venturing to the Eastern Time Zone to play the Cincinnati Bearcats of the Big East Conference.
It’s the first trip for the program to the ETZ since Sept. 17, 2005 at Louisville and only the third time since 1987.
Cincinnati is playing its first Pac-10 team since a 1976 game vs. Arizona State (then not a Pac-10 member) and is hosting its first ever Pac-10 opponent.
The game can be seen live Thursday night on ESPN at 4:30 p.m. PDT.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Former Oregon State University quarterback Matt Moore was claimed by the NFL’s Carolina Panthers after being waived Saturday by the Dallas Cowboys.
Moore signed a free agent contract with Dallas after not being drafted following his senior season.
