The Pilots, 3-0 in five-game contests entering Friday’s match against Central Connecticut State, were dealt a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to the Blue Devils in the opening match of the Brown Invitational.
Sophomore outside hitter Maria Clemens led three Pilots with double-doubles and finished the match with 18 kills and 10 digs.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - The University of Portland women’s soccer team took another devastating blow when the team found out junior All-American midfielder Megan Rapinoe will be lost for the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee for the second time in less than a year.
Rapinoe, whose 2006 season was cut short by the same injury, appeared in just two matches in 2007 off the bench for the Pilots.
Megan’s twin sister Rachael Rapinoe was diagnosed with the same season-ending injury last week, leaving the Pilots without two of their top offensive threats.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - The 24th-ranked Oregon volleyball team was on the brink of an upset in the team’s Pacific-10 Conference opener, but the eighth-ranked Washington Huskies would not go quietly, avenging an early two-game deficit for a 3-2 (30-28, 30-26, 16-30, 25-30, 11-15) victory over the Ducks on Friday night at McArthur Court.
The Huskies, who have reached the NCAA Tournament’s Final Four the last three seasons, remain undefeated with a record of 12-0 (1-0, Pac-10), while Oregon falls to 11-2 (0-1, Pac-10), suffering its first loss at Mac Court this season. Read Full Article

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Juniors Rashelle Davenport and Chelsea Reeher each recorded a team-high 11 kills, but Corban's women's volleyball team fell to the Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech, 3-0 (16-30, 28-30, 16-30), on Friday night inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
After winning a thrilling four-game match last Saturday against first-year conference member Northwest Christian, Corban came out looking very sluggish and lethargic against the Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech.
Corban sophomore Amy Thompson handed out a match-high 36 assists to bring her total over the Warriors' last two matches to 107.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Senior Kristin Murray had a career-high 21 kills, posting a double-double, in Oregon State’s 3-2 win over the Washington State Cougars (32-30, 30-32, 25-30, 30-21, 16-14) Friday evening in Gill Coliseum to open up Pac-10 play.
Sophomore Rachel Rourke led the team offensively with 23 kills, while freshman Jill Sawatzky was the third player in double digits for kills.
Sophomore Bree Knitter bested her career-high with 10 kills, while adding six blocks.

(WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.) - Oregon scored more against No. 15 Purdue than anybody else had this season, but the Boilermakers made a pair of early second half goals stand up to defeat the Ducks 3-2 on Friday.
The action started early with Oregon’s Allison Newton scoring from 15 yards out to stake the Ducks to a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute.
The junior from Eugene, Ore., collected the ball after Purdue’s attempt to clear Darcie Gardner’s cross went awry and she hit an off-speed shot through traffic for her third goal of the season and ninth of her career.

(MISSOULA, Mont.) - The Oregon State women’s soccer team opened up its appearance at the Montana Nike Cup with a 3-3 tie against Boise State Friday.
The Beavers scored two goals in the second half to send the match to overtime, where neither team could score in the final two periods.

Salem-News.com Sports (September 21, 2007 18:44)Oregon State Baseball Visits White House Salem-News.com SPORTSOregon State is the first team in a decade to repeat as national champions in baseball, and just the fifth program to do so in NCAA history.
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The Oregon State baseball team visited the White House on Friday to celebrate the team’s back-to-back national championships.
During the ceremony, Casey and the rest of the team presented President Bush with two Oregon State jerseys with the No. 1 on the back.
In addition to the jerseys, the team presented the President with a specially-made DeMarini bat. On the bat was inscribed “Orange and Black, Back-To-Back. 2006-2007 National Champions. Oregon State.”
