Salem-News.com Sports (October 10, 2007 06:05)Pilots to Play Oregon State at PGE Park in April Salem-News.com SPORTSThe game, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on April 15, is part of Portland’s 2008 schedule, announced Tuesday by UP head coach Chris Sperry (PORTLAND, Ore. ) - After filling Joe Etzel Field to the brim and then some last spring, the Portland Pilots and two-time defending national champion Oregon State Beavers will switch venues to PGE Park in downtown Portland for a non-conference baseball game in April.
The game at PGE Park is one of four scheduled meetings between the Pilots and Beavers next spring. The two teams are slated to meet in Corvallis, Ore., on March 4 and April 23, while a game at Joe Etzel Field is set for March 31.

Wagner recently completed her playing career at Oregon during the 2005-06 season, earning honorable mention All-Pacific 10 Conference honors. This is Jepsen's first Player of the Week honor and the second for Portland State this season (Dominique Fradella, Aug. 27). Although the Vikings only had one match last week, Jepsen made the most of it. The sophomore had an incredible match against number three in the Big Sky standings, Eastern Washington. (DETROIT) - The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has exercised its option for the 2008 season on catcher Ivan Rodriguez.
Rodriguez batted .281 (141x502) with 50 runs scored, 31 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs and 63 RBI in 129 games for the Tigers in 2007. He was selected to the American League's all-star squad for the 14th time in his career this past season.

(MEMPHIS, Tenn. ) - Police in Memphis say a fourth man has been charged with the fatal shooting of University of Memphis football player Taylor Bradford.
The 21-year-old defensive lineman was shot on September 30 after he walked out of the the Carpenter Complex, a residence hall located on Central Avenue near the northeast corner of campus, where he lived, and was in his car when the shooting occurred. Police found him after his car ran into a tree a short distance from the campus.

(COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) - Former Oregon State track and field athlete and 1968 high jump Olympic gold medalist, Dick Fosbury, was named the President of the World Olympians Association (WOA), announced Saturday by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).
Fosbury competed for the U.S. Olympic Team in Mexico City in 1968. He revolutionized the event with the creation of what is now known as the “Fosbury Flop,” which became the standard approach for most high jumpers after his success with the technique.
