Post-Earthquake Photos of Haiti by Daniel Cima

Incredible images from a still stricken land.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - This past week in Washington, D.C., I met with award-winning Argentine photographer Daniel Cima, who spent over a month in Haiti following the January 2010 earthquake.

The following series of Cima’s photographs is an example of disaster-inspired creativity of a different nature than that espoused by hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean, who preferred to channel his artistic talents into a bid for the Haitian presidency before settling for a musical album entitled “If I Were President, the Haitian Experience”.

Note from editor: Salem-News.com published a large number of stories about the Haitian earthquake; the majority of it from UN agencies on the ground who mapped the disaster and did what they could. Even a far more substantial effort would not have been enough.

People survived amazing circumstances but the toll of this disaster keeps on taking its share.

The population of Haiti wasn't exactly at its best economically before this epic disaster struck, it is harder for people here than it would be in other areas of the world that are not as detached.

Special thanks to Daniel Cima and Belén for this important visual reminder of what it is like for the people of Haiti.
