Western Media Defines Itself by Ignoring Wall Street Protests

Welcome to the Wall Street Fall - where Americans are taking a stand.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Occupy Wall Street is continuing in full force in spite of police abuse and arrests. Some of the developments are filtering through the mainstream news channels and the people who work on Wall Street are constantly reminded by a growing presence that makes them very nervous.

When Iran had its so-called 'Green Revolution' the west couldn't give it enough coverage, because anything that Iran does true or otherwise, is over-reported and amplified by newsrooms before it even gets to that stage, as long as it makes Iran appear in a bad light.

The dawning of the Arab Spring brought a more complicated process upon both western newsrooms and Barack Obama himself, who would always blow with the wind to a degree in order to preserve his presidency. But then that led to another full-fledged deadly bombing campaign in Libya and the war machine burped and smiled and life continues, though not for some.

Now we have our own version of those heavily covered protests, and it is taking place on Wall Street where the crapballs have played with your country's future in detrimental ways.

The New York City Police have already brutalized people, and they have no idea where this thing is going. People finally did something, beyond Wisconsin, and it feels good to know that deep in its heart, America is alive and that its beating revolutionary heart is also a beating drum for the masses of conscious thinkers who say enough!

The NYC bloggers are hard at work, according to Karin Rougeau has been keeping an eye on the latest developments.

She sent this to our newsroom today, from blogs.villagevoice.com:

In Occupy Wall Street's eighth day, protesters claim on their Twitter account today that they have been targeted by tear gas, and at least 50 people have been arrested during their march through the city this afternoon headed toward the United Nations building [Updated per retraction from a member of Occupy Wall Street's public relations working group, marchers were not headed to the UN, but back to Zuccotti Park.] Read more with updates after the jump.

Member of Occupy Wall Street's Public Relations Working Group Patrick Bruner said that he heard accounts of the tear gas from people who were monitoring the protest's livestream and from another person who was in contact with someone "on the ground."

"I'm working on confirming that," he said. "I'm pretty sure it's accurate."

That said, he added that he hasn't been able to get a first-hand confirmation.

When we reached out to the NYPD's Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information we were told that the NYPD does not use tear gas and does not have it.

About 20 minutes after Occupy Wall Street tweeted about the tear gas, they added that more than 50 people have been arrested and five women were maced.

Bruner said that the arrests likely happened somewhere between 12th Street and Union Square. The report of five women being maced came to him from someone on the scene, he said, adding that that information has to be taken "with a grain of salt."

A representative from DCPI said he had not heard anything on arrests from the field yet.

We'll update as more information comes in.

Twitter Censorship Blocks OccupyWallStreet

On at least two occasions, Saturday September 17th and again on Thursday night, Twitter blocked #OccupyWallStreet from being featured as a top trending topic on their homepage. On both occasions, #OccupyWallStreet tweets were coming in more frequently than other top trending topics that they were featuring on their homepage.

This is blatant political censorship on the part of a company that has recently received a $400 million investment from JP Morgan Chase.

We demand a statement from Twitter on this act of politically motivated censorship.

Will they block #OccupyWallStreet from trending again tomorrow when actions throughout the country will once again flare up?

We shall see. Will have more on this topic soon…

Karin Rougeau says the weekend has remained very busy, commenting on an interview she caught with an ex banker from New Mexico, "he flew in and said he just couldn't work in banking anymore, it was corrupt."

Another younger group came from Texas via car - a 26-hour drive straight through, they have to do the march and then head right back out to be back to work on Monday.

A young African-American college student who took the train from DC. He says it kills him when he walks to classes and passes so many homeless people.

"His Dad got cancer and lost the home to Foreclosure... his parents are lost people... all hope gone... He came to represent them and all the homeless he sees, back to DC for classes on Monday," Karin Rougeau said.

There are also many reports about police officers trying to provoke the peaceful crowd. As this takes place, more buses continue rolling into NY carrying many more people willing to stand against the deteriorating state of nation brought about mostly on Wall Street.

In conclusion, the groups protesting those responsible for the financial disintegration of America are remaining positive and they are growing in numbers... the future is looking brighter for the on the ground troops with their boots on the ground on Wall Street.

As far as protests go, this one on "Wall Street" simply does not deserve major, or even minor national coverage. As far an any financial deterioration, that began in the late 90's with the demands and threats from people like Sec. of Treasury Rubin, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, and others of similar ideology, to push subprime home loans. This is where it all began in earnest. Now we have policies coming from the Whitehouse just the opposite of JFK and Reagan, and we are getting the opposite results. Also just research who received the largest political donations from Wall St. bankers and brokers...number one was Obama, then mostly democrats after him. So logical critical thinking pretty well clears up who has been behind this crap, and continuing to make it worse. Obama is in full campaign mode, so only thing coming from him will be Alinsky-style distractions. Pray for a Biden takeover, then pray for a Speaker takeover. That's the only chance America has.

Editor: I can't argue the part about Obama... he is the corporate president.
