Weight Loss Expert Calls Mayor Bloomberg Delusional Over Proposed Soda Ban

Questions if the Mayor will try to ban Halloween next?

(NEW YORK ) - An outspoken critic of the obesity epidemic is taking direct aim at New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg over his proposed ban on large-size soda drinks - an issue that the Board or Health will vote on today – saying it’s a clear overreach of government intervention and will do absolutely nothing in the fight against obesity.

Steve Siebold, author of the international best-selling book Die Fat or Get Tough: 101 Differences in Thinking Between Fat People and Fit People, and a mental toughness coach who has helped thousands of people lose weight, offers these thoughts:

· It’s not the restaurants, food manufacturers, portion sizes or the sale of drinks larger than 16 ounces that is responsible for making Americans fat. It comes down to personal responsibility and if you’re fat it’s your fault.

· What’s next? October 31 is right around the corner, so is the Mayor going to ban Halloween because of all the sugary candy?

· Americans are free to make their own choices when it comes to what they eat or drink. If they want to eat fast food, drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes or whatever, the fundamental rights of living in this country allow people to make their own choices. The ban is a clear overreach of government into private business.

· The key to winning the war on obesity is to grow up emotionally, get mentally tough, stop making excuses and make the decision to get fit and healthy once and for all. But that’s a decision that each of us must make on our own, and no ban on soda or anything else is going to make a difference.
