Sep-06-2010 21:21TweetFollow @OregonNews Behind the Curtain of the Convenient RecessionCommentary by Lucas Blue Salem-News.comWho benefits from a continued recession? The answer to that question may explain a lot...do you know it?
(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) - Republicans in general are pretty smart people. They seem to be able to amass large fortunes more frequently than anyone else. You do not accomplish this by being stupid. Ever since the Democrats took back Washington, profits are down. They see the Democrats as wanting to feed the hunger, cure the sick, provide food and shelter for the poor, fight injustice. To an extent that is true. However, they feel the Democrats want to do these things with the taxpayers money. That would, of course, include some of their tax dollars. Just about everything I hear from Rush, from Hannity, from O'Reily and Beck, and just about everything on Fox News is that the Republicans, as well as other conservatives, support this contention. Today, as in January of 2010, we face some tough economic times. We all know that if we had pulled out of the recession in 2010, the Democrats would have held on to the House, the Senate, and many other institutions across the land. However, if somehow we were kept in the recession during 2010, the Republicans would have their best chance to take back the government in Washington, as well as several other states. How could they do that you ask? If the banks do not loan money, and business does not start to hire people, the recession will continue. We knew this in January, so did the Republicans. The consequences? If they can keep this plan off the air waves, the banks can simply wait until 2011 to start lending. No problem. Business has it even better. Every time they have a layoff, their stock price goes up because that will "reduce expenses". Only once did I even hear this mentioned. It was on Public radio, and the person who was being interviewed simply dismissed the idea that the Republicans would do such a thing in order to return to power. My question: How did they do it? Why didn't anyone on the progressive side see this and raise the issue? Is it that we cannot prove it? What is happening in this country is self evident, if only one would look at it. Yet no one has even raised the issue, and at the rates jobs are not being created and money is not flowing, look for a repeat of 1992 when the Republicans swept into power. If you are not happy with President Obama, it is probably because he compromises. But he gets good things done. These good things help Americans, and ultimately reduce profits for large corporations and other businesses. The very fact they hate and are taking aim at the President should be enough to cause good people to stand up and fight back. May God Bless America, and protect us from the greedy ones.
