(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Serious Injury Traffic Crash - Interstate 84 near Rooster Rock State Park Police say a Portland man was fortunate to survive a high impact car crash into the back of a moving commercial truck todayd on Interstate 84 westbound, about 500 feet east of the Rooster Rock State Park freeway interchange. 23-year old Gregory P. Angnos of southeast Portland received non-life threatening injuries in the Thursday afternoon crash that happened at 12:10 PM. According to Oregon State Police, Angnos' silver 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse was westbound at a high rate of speed on Interstate 84 near milepost 24 when it crashed into the left rear corner of a semi-trailer pulled by a commercial truck. The car came to rest on its top in the middle of the westbound lanes pinning Angnos inside. Multnomah County firefighters extricated Angnos from the car, and then he was transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Health Sciences University. He was using safety restraints and his car's airbag deployed. Deputies investigating the crash say the truck driver was not injured and a name is not available at this time. Oregon State Police troopers from the Portland Area Command office are continuing the investigation, and they say enforcement action is pending. Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, AMR ambulance, ODOT and LifeFlight assisted at the scene. All lanes re-opened about 2:00 PM.
