Oct-11-2006 00:13TweetFollow @OregonNews Cartoon Strip: Nota Bene by Leonardo Episode XI - When the Cornbelt Moves to SaskatoonGlen Bledsoe Salem-News.comThis is the eleventh installment of the Salem-News.com original cartoon series Nota Bene by Leonardo by Salem cartoonist Glen Bledsoe.
(SALEM) - You're not going to let a few tree-hugging environmentalists scare you away from displaying your manhood on the road, are you? Doesn't America just take what it wants because it deserves it? Isn't America entitled to highways jammed with gas-guzzling Hummers or any other energy wasteful vehicle Detroit can design?
Americans need serious toys, man. Show your patriotism by revving it up at traffic lights. Petro-Macho! Let the Euro-weenies squirm when you start talking gallons-to-the-mile instead of miles-to-the-gallon. Suck it up, America. You are Entitled. You are the top of the food chain. It is your birthright.
Besides, the price of gas is dropping. The President wants to make sure you feel good about the state of the oil nation just before you vote. What's a little global warming among friendly nations anyway? And Canada can be counted as one of America's friendly nations, can't it? We will be ever so grateful When the Cornbelt Moves to Saskatoon. You'll soon see for yourself.

Some things lend themselves better to just text and some things to comics. The process of making connections between ideas and pictures and text isn't something that I understand very well yet. May never. But you are certainly right: the comments running through S-N could be great sources for future NBs.

Glen: Some great material in these Comments, but I dunno how you can "make a funny" outta some of it...try Steve-Albany in various places for sample of seeming multitudinous veracities. Not being facetious, believe reflections here extremely meaningful re our social problems.

Thank you Truthmeister and special thanks to Hank! Next week starts a new series called "The Adventures of White Hat." In it you'll see a somewhat different art style which I think you're going to enjoy. The best is yet to come.
