There are nearly 600 ways to join the celebration at www.OregonDaysofCulture.org: programming - much of it free and family oriented -- in theaters, parks, libraries, community and senior centers, galleries and museums, screening rooms, heritage sites and historical societies in every part of the state.

Tuesday October 5th Corvallis - Memories of a Missionarys Kid: Internment and Revolution

Jim Flory and his parents were caught in the Philippines when the Japanese invaded during WWII. They spent the duration of the war in a civilian internment camp run by the Japanese army. In this class, Jim Flory will tell the story of how ordinary people built a humane community under very difficult conditions

Tuesday October 5th Salem - Acting Up for Preschoolers!

Does your preschooler like moving and pretending? In this creative dramatics class, little hams will learn some simple, basic theater skills, such as projecting and movement, through drama games and activities. The Wednesday Farmers' Market is open on Chemeketa Street NE, between High and Liberty Streets in downtown Salem! The market runs from 10 am to 2 pm every Wednesday through October.

Friday October 8th 2nd Friday Irish Ceili Dance

On Friday, October 8th, enjoy Irish set & ceili dancing to the lively tunes of traditional Irish musicians.

This dancing style is similar to square & contra dancing. No Riverdance here! Complimentary dance lesson from 7-8 PM (with each paid admission) then called dancing from 8-11 PM. No partner or experience needed. A great mixer for singles! All ages welcome. Hosted by the Ceili of the Valley Society (an Oregon non-profit).
