(SACRAMENTO) - The US government says a lethal North Korean artillery strike on a South Korean island is a premeditated violation of the 1953 Korean War armistice. However, U.S. officials did say they do not believe Pyongyang is preparing for an extended military campaign. US President Barack Obama is asking officials in Communist China to press their friends in Communist Pyongyang, North Korea into "abiding by rules", following a military strike. The odd alliance that has developed between China, a nation known for murderous Civil Rights violations, and the US, a nation known for deadly unilateral attacks on countries like Iraq, hss piqued the curiosity of many western leaders in recent years. Now it gets even stranger, considering the large number of US companies and property now under ownership of Chinese businesses and nationals. Obama also stated in an interview that the US would defend its ally South Korea. For those who don't already realize this, the Korean War never really ended. As Israel continually pushes the US closer and closer to launching an unprecedented, unilateral attack on Iran, a nation without nuclear armament, the possibility of a nuclear strike coming out of North Korea remains a serious real threat. But hardline threats toward North Korea from South Korea are being blamed in this latest round of hostilities. So far China's response has been diplomatic, though media reports there criticize the South Korean attitude toward its neighbor.
