(Honolulu, Hawai’i ) - The Oregon State women’s basketball team (3-0) made it three straight to start the 2010-11 season with a solid 49-32 win over Cal State Northridge (0-3) on Saturday evening in the team’s second game of the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic. Freshman Alexis Bostick (Oakland, Calif.) led the offensive effort with senior El Sara Greer (Waterloo, Iowa) and sophomore Angela Misa (Oceanside, Calif.) posted up with 11 rebounds each. And redshirt sophomore Sage Indendi (Livingston, Mont.) tallied four steals of the team’s 12 total. Oregon State controlled the tip, leading to Greer converting on one of a pair of free throws to take the early lead. Northridge took the lead with a bucket 30 seconds later but Misa took over with a jumper and a three-point play to make it 7-4. The Matadors took the 8-7 lead after the second media timeout, holding the Beavers scoreless for over six minutes. But Bostick gave Oregon State the slim 9-8 lead on a fast break layup starting a 9-2 run going into the final media timeout with an 18-10 lead. Starting the second half with a 24-14 lead, the Beavers were unable to stop the Matador offense, who racked up nine points to the Beavers’ four at the first break. Freshman Alyssa Martin (Portland, Ore.) scored the next five points for Oregon State on a three from the corner and a back door layup from the opposite side to build the Beavers’ lead back up to 10 at the 33-23 mark. Oregon State followed up with a 12-2 run between media timeouts to earn its largest lead of the night at 48-28 on a Greer put pack layup accompanied by a Bostick three-pointer. The Beavers held on, holding the Matadors to just four points after the long run, to close out the game. Cal State Northridge’s Analee Viena-Lota led all shooters with 11 points, earning a double-double with 16 rebounds.
