(LIBERTY, Mo.) - Concordia’s season came to an end in the opening round of the NAIA men’s soccer national championships with a 3-1 loss to seventh-seeded William Jewell Saturday night. Concordia ended its season with a 16-3-1 record, while William Jewell improved to 18-2. William Jewell struck first, as Troy Green scored off a pass from A.J. Shinabargar in the 36th minute to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. The Cardinals outshot the Cavaliers 10-3 in the first half and 18-9 in the match. Mo Ramahi made it a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute on a penalty kick. Concordia’s Shaunovan Wilson pulled CU to within one at 2-1 two minutes later, but that would be the only Cavalier goal of the contest. Concordia goalkeeper Claudio Lazar finished with seven saves in the contest, while William Jewell keeper Kyle Heiman posted four saves.
