(CORVALLIS) - A 19-year old Newport woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Highway 34 about three miles east of Corvallis.

Official say that on November 21st at about 8:40 AM, a 1992 Geo Metro was eastbound on Highway 34 near milepost 3 when it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a westbound 2006 Honda Pilot.

The operator of the Geo, 19-year old Amber Renee Kent, from Newport, was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was using safety restraints.

The operator of the Honda, Leslie Ann Howard, age 61, of Albany, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis with non-life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles ended up in the ditch on the north side of the roadway. Westbound traffic was open to one lane of traffic shortly after the crash. One lane remained closed while the vehicles were removed, and traffic was routed through the scene by the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The investigation is being conducted by the Albany Patrol Office of the Oregon State Police, with assistance from members of the Multi-Agency Accident Investigation Team from the Sweet Home Police Department, the Albany Police Department, and the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation is continuing.
