Yotes’ Mendiola, Raiders’ Rohlfing Share Coaching Award Again
(Portland, Oregon) - Lindsey Stone of Southern Oregon has been voted the Cascade Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Year, the league office announced. For the second straight year, Southern Oregon’s Josh Rohlfing and The College of Idaho’s Liz Mendiola were named Co-Coaches of the Year by their peers.
This year marks the third time Stone has been named top player in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. After sitting out the 2009 season, the Ashland native returned this season to turn the hat trick for conference Player of the Year honors. Stone led the CCC with almost 11 assists per set.
For the second year in a row, The College of Idaho’s Whitney Owen was named the CCC’s Defensive Specialist/Libero of the Year. Owen, a senior from Caldwell, Idaho, averaged 5.88 digs per set during the regular season. Lindsay Mangan of Concordia University, a freshman setter from Huntington Beach, Calif., was voted the league’s Newcomer of the Year.
