Red Lion Players of the Week

(Clackamas, Oregon) - The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week November 15th 2010:

Men’s Basketball
Warner Pacific College’s Sean Gaines, a 6-5 sophomore forward from Portland, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. In three games, Gaines averaged 17.7 points, 9.0 rebounds and shot 63 percent from the field as the Knights went 3-0. Gaines had a pair of double-doubles, scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a win over Simpson (Calif.) University and going for 18 and 10 in a victory over Portland Bible College. Warner Pacific improved to 3-0. Honorable mention: Jordan Carter, Corban; Krispin Banks, College of Idaho; Greg George, Northwest; Joseph Foster, Oregon Tech; Kellen Spicer, Northwest Christian; Jourdan Sweeney, Concordia.

Women’s Basketball
Concordia University’s Danielle Clauson, a 5-10 senior forward from Edmonds, Wash., has been named the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Clauson led the Cavaliers in both of their contests last week, including matching a career high with 28 points against Westmont (Calif.) University, a team receiving votes in the NAIA Division I Coaches’ Poll. Clauson also recorded a double-double in a 96-86 victory over Simpson (Calif.) University, scoring 23 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Clauson hit 22 of 33 field goal attempts (.667), dished out seven assists and registered three steals. Honorable mention: Tess Bennett, Corban; Katelin Shannon, College of Idaho; Hope Williams, Northwest Christian; Brittany Cherry, Oregon Tech; Miranda Holenstein, Warner Pacific.
