(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Corvallis Police Officers responded to the 1800 block of NW Grant Circle Monday afternoon, after neighbors reported hearing a fight between a man and a woman in an adjacent duplex. Lieutenant Dave Henslee with Corvallis Police says that upon arrival, officers say they located and detained 19-year old Cody Knight who had been involved in an altercation with the victim, who is also his girlfriend. "During the incident, Knight kicked open the victim's locked bedroom door, took her cell phone from her as she tried to call 911 for help, and physically prevented her from fleeing the apartment." He says that the midst of the struggle, the victim grabbed a pair of scissors to defend herself. "But Knight took the scissors from her and made a slashing motion at her, striking the underside of her forearm." Henslee says the victim fought to free herself from Knight's grasp and eventually was able to run to the neighbor's residence for help. "Knight sustained a minor cut to his hand during the struggle and the victim sustained injuries to her face and forearm. Both individuals where examined at the scene by the Corvallis Fire Department medics but neither required additional care." Knight was arrested and taken to the Benton County Correctional Facility according to Henslee, charged with second-degree Kidnapping, second-degree Attempted Assault, Coercion, Menacing, Reckless Endangering and Interfering with Making a Report. Anyone with any information regarding this incident in encouraged to contact Officer Brian Stahl at (541) 766-6924.
