(BERKELEY, California) - The 13th-ranked Oregon State women’s soccer team fell Sunday in its season finale against California, 1-0. The Beavers finish the season with a program best record of 15-3-1 overall and 7-2-0 in conference play. They now await their fate as the 2010 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament field is selected live on ESPNU Monday at 1:30 p.m. PT. It was a scoreless draw through regulation and the first 10 minute overtime period before California’s Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick scored the golden-goal at 105:36 to give the Golden Bear’s the 1-0 double overtime victory Sunday. Megan Jesolva of California took a shot on goal which was saved by Oregon State keeper Colleen Boyd but Fitzpatrick was able to collect the rebound and put it in the right side of the net. Boyd recorded a career high 11 saves in the game and has recorded 29 of her 69 total saves on the season in the last four games. She finishes the regular season with a goals-against average of 0.52 which is best all-time at Oregon State. She has only allowed 10 goals in 19 games this season. The Beavers recorded 13 total shots in the game with nine coming on goal but were out-shot 5-to-1 in the two overtime periods. Senior Courtney Wetzel paced the Beavers with six shots in the match with four of those coming on goal. The beavers now await the tournament selection show tomorrow, Monday, on ESPNU to see if they can make it to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years for the first time in program history. The tournament selection show will air at 1:30 p.m. PT. Articles for November 6, 2010 | Articles for November 7, 2010 | Articles for November 7, 2010 | googlec507860f6901db00.html Quick Links
