May-22-2012 00:02TweetFollow @OregonNews Response to the 60 Minutes Segment on IsraelRod Driver Salem-News.comThis program was an extreme disappointment. I thought 60 Minutes had more integrity and courage.
(WEST KINGSTON, R.I.) - On Sunday 60 Minutes did a rather disgraceful segment to please Zionists. (You can see it here: From fear to fortune: Tel Aviv's attitude- CBS 60 Minutes) I was sufficiently disgusted to send the following hasty response via their web site. (I couldn’t find an email address as such.) Sunday’s segment on Israel (May 20, 2012) gave a totally distorted picture of the Middle East conflict. It made no mention of the dispossession of the Palestinians and their continuing oppression by Israel. Palestinian homes are still destroyed or confiscated at will by the Israeli occupation forces. Palestinians aren’t even allowed to travel in their own country without permission from the Israeli military. How many Palestinians were enjoying the day at the beach which you showed? (They’re scarcely allowed to get to the water in Gaza.) The program talked of hundreds of “rockets” aimed at Israel. The Palestinian “rockets” are little more than over-sized firecrackers. It is Israel that has high-tech rockets and other weapons systems (supplied by the US taxpayers) used to massacre Palestinians. Gideon Levy is usually sensitive to the injustice Israel does to the Palestinians. So I suspect that the interview with Mr. Levy was selectively edited. This program was an extreme disappointment. I thought 60 Minutes had more integrity and courage. _________________________________ Rod Driver studied engineering and mathematics at the University of Minnesota, receiving a Ph.D. in mathematics in 1960.
