(MEIKTILA, Burma Mayu Press) - Hundreds of Muslim women, children and elderly have been killed mercilessly and more than 20,000 displaced. Mosques and religious schools have been torched, Muslim properties have been looted since the latest violence broke out since 20 March 2013 in Meiktila, near villages and towns.

It is the worst sectarian strife since communal unrest between Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims broke out in the western state of Arakan last year, leaving thousands of Rohingya people dead and more than 110,000 displaced.

This religious sectarian unrest today is not accidental. This is open genocide against Muslims by Buddhist mobs. Documented evidence proves that this government is intent on making Burma a Muslim free nation. The media personnel and journalists have been intimidated and asked to surrender cameras and recording device and memory chips to mobs led by Monks in Meiktila.

On 25 March 2013, the Burmese government issued a press release, saying:

The government is making concerted efforts in democratic reform and development undertakings with added momentum. That is why people are urged to avoid acts of violence and religious extremism that could disrupt the reform process and development tasks.

The Buddhist racists commit violence daily. When they resumed destroying Mosques and Muslim houses, the security forces did nothing. They just watched the violence. The security forces fire rubber bullets to maintain formality. And the security personnel tightened after the Buddhist mobs left. During the attack, the Burmese authority cut off all of the telephone lines of Muslims so they could not inform others to help. So, who is behind the racist attacks against Muslims?
