Police say this is the second blast this week.

The most recent attack happened close to a bus ticketing office in Musanze, a small town located about 120 km north of Kigali. A mini bus was damaged in the incident.

Police spokesman Theos Badege, told reporters that no suspect is in custody.

While it was unclear whether a grenade was used in this attack, the weapons were used in Rwanda's capital during a string of grenade attacks in 2010.

Rwanda was the scene of at least two grenade attacks in 2011. It is also a country suspected of jailing opposition candidates.

The following letter is a response from John V Karuranga, the President of the Rwanda People’s Party:

Ref: Rwanda - Musanze blast

On behalf of my party, the Rwanda people’s party, we have been concerned about the increased insecurity in Rwanda. And my party has noticed this terrible incident that happened today on Friday 23 March 2012 at Musanze, where one person died and five others injured.

This is precisely the situation that we as a political party have been drawing the attention of the international community to.

President Kagame’s policy is creating danger and insecurity for the Rwandan population as whole. This is why we have proposed our Road Map to Peace to the Rwandan government and which they have not yet responded.

Our roadmap to peace is till on the table are we are ready and willing to engage in a meaningful talks with the RPF government to resolve what is increasingly becoming potentially violent situation in our country, as evidenced by today’s evidence in Musanze.

It is not too late for the RPF government to engage with opposition to resolve Rwanda’s political, social and economical problems on a peaceful basis. And so therefore, that’s why we ask president Kagame to hear the cry of the Rwandan people and stop the violence whether committed by the government army or opposition rebels.

Our road Map to Peace and reconciliation is the only way forward for the building a new Rwanda.

Kagame has signed the end of his dictatorial era. RPF violence will be followed by opposition violence. Rwandan people will further suffer, but Rwandans will be finally free. If violence is a necessary step for eradicating a worse violence, then it becomes mandatory. Mugaanga che Guevara said: "A revolution that has NOT the support of the people it is supposed to give freedom to, is totally unjust and is intended to disappear". Kagame and its RPF mafia will disappear soon: such is their fate. Amen.
