(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Few details are in, but around 3:05 p.m. today Portland Police officers responded to the Hoyt Arboretum on a call of a disturbance in the area of the park. Detective Mary Wheat with the Portland Police Bureau, said an officer arrived on scene; shortly thereafter, the officer reported that shots had been fired and requested immediate medical response. An adult male subject was shot by the officer and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Portland Police Detectives are asking any possible witnesses at the scene of today's police shooting to call police so that they can be interviewed about the incident that occurred. These possible witnesses left the scene prior to being interviewed by police. Anyone that witnessed the shooting or was in the area at the time of the incident is asked to call Detective Mark Slater at 503-823-9319. The name of the deceased man and the officer involved are not being released at this time. More details concerning this incident will be released tomorrow.
