Lyrical Poem: Pound of Gold

So go ahead and tread on his hand-picked roses... Tear up your declaration of love, wipe off those loyalty poses

Roses and poses

(LONDON) - Find yourself tapping to a techno beat
Words matter not in the age of speed
They no longer arouse the heat

Replace your heart with a drum machine
Forget past whispers of romance
The vogue tempo is of porno screams

There was more foundation to her make-up than to their love
Only the sparkle of diamonds could shine her heavens above
The soul of a raven is clothed by deceitful feathers of a dove

So go ahead and take your pound of gold
But leave the flesh near the organ that beats
To someone who'd know what it folds

You won't miss the hands that held you tight
Nor the last voice you hear before surrendering to sleep at night
Nor the one that wakes you and readies you for a day bright

For by clutching to an extra ounce of gold
You shall have all you need in your pretentious world
Where everything is up for being bought or sold

Accepting your hereditary madness, to move forward
He, as asked, did pet your barking dogs
And he, as expected, was bitten as a reward

So go ahead and tread on his hand-picked roses
Tear up your declaration of love, wipe off those loyalty poses
Save the method acting; he won't heed to your auction proposes
