Monsanto Wants Oregon's Legislature to Limit Local RightsSalem-News.com
Petition will stop Monsanto's bill that would block local decision-making around GE foods.
(SALEM) - Monsanto cares so much about our wellbeing that they founded "Oregonians for Food & Shelter" — a group promoting a bill in the Oregon state legislature that would prevent communities from banning genetically engineered crops. Something tells me their front group is more concerned about Monsanto's bottom line than they are about Oregonians. Help stop this bill before it gets out of committee by asking your senator to oppose the Monsanto bill.
Yesterday the Senate Rural Communities and Economic Development Committee held its first hearing on Monsanto's bill. We need your help to make sure that this hearing is its last: tell your senator to oppose this bill and stand up for local rights.
Communities in Oregon are fighting to protect their farmers from Monsanto's GE crops by pushing for county ordinances banning GE crops. It looks like Monsanto's response is to create a front group to pressure the Oregon state legislature to pass Senate and House bills that would make local GE ordinances illegal. We cannot let these bills pass. Will you take action today to demand that your senators don't even let these bills go to a vote?
Speak out for safe food and Oregon farmers: Lend your support, take a minute and sign Stop Monsanto's Bill in Oregon!
