(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Several names have been added to the list of Americans who have given the final sacrifice for their country. Those killed and mentioned in this report are from the Marine Corps, Army and Navy. Those who were killed hail from Virginia, Florida, Hawaii and California. The Navy reports the loss of a sailor at sea who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Petty Officer 1st Class Theophilus K. Ansong, 34, of Bristow, Virginia, was lost at sea February 4th. Theophilus Ansong was assigned to USS San Antonio (LPD 17) as it conducted operations in the Gulf of Aden. The cause of death is under investigation. A Marine was killed supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Lance Corporal Patrick A. Malone, 21, of Ocala, Florida, died March 10th as a result of a non-hostile incident in Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. The incident is currently under investigation. The Department of Defense reports that Private first class Patrick A. Devoe, II, 27, of Auburn, New York, died March 8th in Kandau Kalay, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 40th Cavalry Regiment4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska. Another Army Casualty identified by the federal government is an officer who was serving in Iraq. 1st Lieutenant Daniel B. Hyde, 24, of Modesto, California, died March 7th in Samarra, Iraq, of wounds sustained in Tikrit when an explosive device struck his unit vehicle. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
