(CLACKAMAS) - Investigators say a serious motorcycle crash in the Carver curves near the intersection of 224 and 197th Wednesday serves as a reminder of how dangerous wet roads in Oregon can be for cyclists.

The crash involved a single motorist who lost control of his motorcycle as he went around a corner, hit the soft shoulder, and crashed into a concrete culvert.

Although the 47 year-old male was wearing a full faced helmet, crews on the scene say he sustained a traumatic head injury and was life flighted to Legacy Emanuel Trauma Center.

Bystanders who witnessed the crash did not indicate that speed was a factor. However, it was raining and the road was slippery, which is a reminder that after dry weather, subsequent rain can bring slippery and often treacherous conditions- especially for motorcycles.

With any hazardous driving conditions, proceeding with caution is recommended.
