Statement from OLCV Executive Director Doug Moore on Passage of Clean Fuels Extension by Oregon House of Representatives
(PORTLAND, Ore.) - After more than five hours of debate, the Oregon House of Representatives passed SB 324, legislation that lifts the 2015 sunset on Oregon’s Clean Fuels Program, which reduces the carbon intensity of fuels by 10% over 10 years.
“For nearly six years, extending the Clean Fuels Program has been the top priority for Oregon’s environmental community.
"This program is a win for our economy, for cleaner air and healthier lungs, and a critical step in reducing Oregon’s carbon pollution,” said Doug Moore, Oregon League of Conservation Voters Executive Director.
“I want to thank the leadership of Oregon’s House of Representatives and Senate, along with all those who supported this legislation,” said Moore.
“Their hard work, courage, and leadership against an unprecedented and unscrupulous opposition was a powerful demonstration of their commitment to improving Oregon’s economy, the health of our citizens, and protecting our environment. This is a proud day for Oregon.”
Earlier this month, Oregon’s Senate passed SB 324 by a 17-13 vote. With today’s passage by the Oregon House of Representatives, SB 324 goes to Governor Kate Brown for her signature.
