(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - A collection representing nature in two different media will be on display March 10th to April 4th at Washington State University Vancouver in the Administration Building gallery. Entry to the campus exhibit is free.

Former partners in a Portland art gallery, Debbie and Storm Smith now own and operate Creative Heartworks (creativeheartworks.com) in Tigard, Ore., which produces fine art giclée prints for local artists.

Storm Smith's photographic work centers around his interest in nature. More than just panoramic record shots, his lens looks closer at the art that nature provides. The viewer has an opportunity to visually step into nature and spend a moment experiencing the texture, flow and color.

While creating his work Storm said he is continually asking, "What does this picture say to me? And more importantly, what will it say to someone else?"

Debbie Smith's current body of work is a collection of realistic images. She uses photographs for reference then brings what she calls "a bit of spirit," taking them beyond reproduction to give the images depth.

Although she enjoyed using oils and watercolors, Debbie finds her greatest satisfaction comes from using charcoal, pencil and pastels to create realistic art. Her commissioned portraits and original art can be found in homes and businesses throughout the U.S.

WSU Vancouver galleries are open from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Friday. Parking is available in metered spaces or in the Blue Lot for $3 per day.
